What Will the Demise of Bowen Designs Mean for the Back-Market?

Will statues go up in value, or is this the peak of value, and now we'll see a decline? Thoughts?

Some will go up and some won't.

Good question. I was asking myself the same thing earlier today.

Well, at this point it is hard to tell. Surely time is needed to come to a conclusion. We'll find out eventually.

Maybe I should be more specific...

When Bowen cancelled the mini-statue line, the value of the mini-statues went down.

But this is a little different; this is the shuttering of a whole company and line. When that happened to Hard Hero, the values went down. But this is Bowen, and it's a lot more established.

I'm just curious; not pulling for it one way or another. While it would be nice to be able to own more cheaply some great statues that are right now crazy expensive, I'm not rooting for any collector to lose his or her shirt in terms of collection value.

Honestly, I think many Bowen collectors (myself included) will try to fill in holes and most likely it's going to cost to do it. IMO, the more popular ones will go up (Doc Ock, Mr Sinister, Black Panther, Jean Grey, among others). Bowen collectors, again IMO, are a loyal lot and most won't give up what they have unless 1) they have medical bills 2) getting up in age and kids aren't interested in collecting 3) downsizing homes and need to downsize collections.

I've thought of that. I have no intention of selling my stuff now but when I get into my 70's (assuming my health is holding) I may end up unloading some. We have a pretty good size home for just me and Mrs Hobbit. It's hard to say what I will do but it has started crossing my mind.

Bowen is finished? I remember reading something around here about family problems. I guess I thought once that cleared up things would start going again.
