hey guys,
I just started using my compressor again to airbrush. it is a craftsman pancake compressor. it has a moisture trap but I don't know much else about it except that...when I was finished using it the other day, I drained the tank and a bunch of rusty water came out. I was thinking of buying a new compressor but since it was never really used that much, will it be ok? will the moisture trap stop the rust? and is there a huge risk of the tank bursting? like I said, its a few years old but never really used I always drained it but not much ever came out before and it kind of just sat in my basement until recently.

Hey EvilNinjaChris,

I really don't have alot of answers for you, but my best guess is that you should be OK using what you have until you want to upgrade. As long as you have a pressure regulator to adjust your air pressure and you keep the moisture trap empty (or drain on a regular basis)...you should be fine.

I don't know about that compressor, I have the Thayer & Chandler Airstar V (after my Silentaire Scorpion II pooped out) and it's fantastic. Far more quiet, very nice compressor!

Talking

no I found a website that sells them for 190.00 and the original retail is 309.00 so I figured I'd go for it ...right now I'm running a craftsman 2hp pancake compressor the thing is WAY too loud and I keep having problems with the motor not kicking on... I've also noticed rusty water coming from the drain so I I've been told that its a check valve or not enough power in the outlet i'm using... it just seems way overkill. I got it a long time ago not really knowing what I was doing and I recently started using my airbrush again to paint kits and cartoon cels.. I just want a quiet little kick butt compressor that doesn't vibrate my figures and sculpts off my shelves

You will need to get a hose adaptor from the badger hose that will connect to the Paasche airbrush, other than that, you should be good to go.
