BIG LOVE: Finale

Did anyone catch this last night?

I found the show interesting in it's initial season & got back into it the last 2 seasons.

I thought it was a great finale; it was a bit depressing not from a character standpoint but more from a life perspective.

HBO did a great job on this one.

Game of Thrones coming up next....
Can't wait.

The ending felt a little rushed but still a shocker, I never imagined Carl as a threat but it was still beliveable that he'd do it.

The second I saw him walking up to Bill, I knew where this was headed. That, and Bill's talk with Margene, led me to believe that that would be the outcome. Maybe not in this way specifically, but I figured that was the only way everyone would get what they wanted.

I watched the show from the very beginning, but had a very hard time getting through this season. It started off like a little quirky kind of show, but season after season it got more and more dramatic, and lost the quirkiness. This season was a downer, and sort of made me dislike the characters, especially Bill. I'm actually glad the show is over, had it not ended this season, I doubt I would have come back next season.

I have to agree that Bill definitely became an unlikable character this year but I never thought it would end like that. I actually thought that worst that would happen to him would be Barb leaving.

I think in the end it does tie up things nicely. He was definitely going to jail.

In the end he was a man who definitely loved his family but became too obsessed with Juniper Creek & his religion. Bill was definitely a character that meant well but had serious faults.

Why would anyone want 3 wives??? LOL

I think this was the problem with the show, and where it went wrong. They could have easily made this the family drama it started out to be, without focusing so much on the religious aspects of it. I mean definitely address the issues, but it became almost laughable how many times they said "heavenly father" in an episode. I think you can make a great drinking game out of that.

This season Bill really lost my respect, because of the lengths he went through to reach his goals. Every season, after the first became what mess will Bill get us into this year? The Green's vs. Roman, The 4th wife, the casino, the senatorship, building his church etc., etc.

I was not surprised Barb turned to drink and looked to joining a new church, or that Marge wanted to go on that cruise. If that family made it through everything Bill put them through, they can get through anything. The business partner, I always forget his name, he was another poor victim of Bill's madness.

Anyway, it's all over now.

I'm totally disappointed with how the show evolved and how it ended. I loved the first season and enjoyed the second. The show was really strong when it focused on the family and the core relationships. It got further and further away from that over time and it ended in what I consider to be a lame shock value kind of way that added nothing IMO. I was reminded of American Beauty by that ending..except I wasn't nearly as surprised. So many shows start off strong and fizzle out. Add Big Love to this category.
