I made the decision between the DVDs or these HardCovers to read. But i prefer to read it with a nice glas of redwine instead of the sound of my notebook.

Are these books a good start for people who dont have the older comics?
I like these volumes. They contain the introductions that are in the Masterworks, usually have extra art in the back, and contain all the letter pages. They are heavy, so unless your arms are in excellent shape they need to be read while setting on something. I don't know where you can get to read these issues for a better price or better quality. Everyone is commenting that the X-men one was dissapointing, was that the Morrison one? (I didn't get that one.

I just thought it was a major let down after getting some DC asolute editions. I;m going to give them another shot since I don't have any of the Spideys. And at 50% off I hope it works out. I like the high end books but Marvel needs to do some more quality over quantity.

I will have them both!! Marvel may not get much of my money each new comic day, but they sure found a way to take it in lumps. At least something good will come out of the next F4 movie.
i'm in. i love my essentials, masterworks, and omnibus

Just got the Surfer Omnibus and the Captain America DVD-Rom collection by GIT/Marvel. Both are Great. This is my first Omnibus and I was a little worried about the size of the volume...but I shouldn't have been...nice collection.
The Captain America collection takes issues up to Cap's Death...talk about current. If the Spidey collection "What's new" in 2007
holds true DareDevil and IronMan will get collections released this year. For Surfer Fans this was on the GIT website....

GIT Fantastic Four/Silver Surfer
Our biggest and Best release yet, A double set DVD-ROM with a Total of over 750 complete comic books including annuals, all articles, Fantastic Four Fan Pages, The Cosmic Pipeline, Bullpen Bulletins and every single advertisement. Fantastic Four with over 575 issues (Nov. 1961 through Dec. 2006) and Silver Surfer 185 issues (Aug. 1968 through Dec. 2004).

System Requirements:

Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.1 (which is supplied with product) or above. PC/MAC

--------

Looks like they are repackaging the FF volume that has been released....hope they will also have a separate Surfer volume avalible too, for those of us that have the Fantastic Four collection.

Thumbs up

The Surfer Omnibus is awesome! Full of Buscema and Kirby goodness. They also reprint Stan's intros from the Marvel Masterpiece collections.

I turned around and got hooked on these as opposed to what I had said earlier. Now I only need THe FF vol 1 and Eternals.
I got Alias, Uncanny, and DD at the Pittcon for cheap.
Don't forget about the Ultimate Spidey form B&N a couple years back, it an omnibus in everything but name.
