I know of one small bookstore in LA that survived B&N and all these but they deal in books like first edition hardcovers of lord of the rings and such so a lot of t here clients are hardcore and spend a ton of cash

Borders parent company here in Oz has gone into administration and here's the kicker. If you have a Borders gift card you must now spend double the value of the card if you want to redeem it. So if Aunty Ethel gave you a $50 Borders gift card you can only use it if you make a $100 purchase. Or In other words you must match the card value dollar for dollar or they wont redeem it. And if you're not happy with that, you can join the long list of creditors, and if you're really lucky, you might get $0.01 on the dollar 5 years from now

Went by a soon-to-close one yesterday and the best they were coming up with was 20% off books and cd's. Still cheaper on Amazon.

Same with the one near me ... if they're expecting to move that inventory, they're going to have to do A LOT better than that.
