If you saw a heat wave, would you wave back?

DKR: The Last Crusade

Hmmm not sure how a feel about this.
Unfortunately didn't live up to the hype imo.
Artwork inconsistent nor true to original characters.
Spoiler
Storyline a spin off of Death in the Family, unoriginal and timeline appears to be off.

I don't remember the chronology of DRK and Death in the Family. I always considered DKR outside normal continuity. This story was meant to explain what happened to Jason, per the frequent reference in DKR that caused Batman to hang up his suit. As much as I dislike DKIII and Miller's writing overall now, I actually found myself liking this one. I felt it was pretty true to Miller's aged Batman, though pre-this timing.

Both were in the late '86+. But because this is a one shot it ends with you know who capturing you know who and intent on death or so implied. It has no real closure. Its all left to interpretation.

I think the closure is what's understood in DKR. I think the death actually happens here in this book. Though it's not shown directly, to your point.
