Variation on the MONSTER

Using Basil Gogos for inspiration, I took a casting of the Cabinet of Cruiosities, MONSTER bust and painted him in the familiar green tones. When I created the sculpt I always envisioned doing a variation like this. I still prefer the dead pale grayish tone that I did originally, but this is fun too.

Hope you like him.

The green looks awesome, William! But I like the corpse grey even better.

Thanks. I prefer the corpse look as well. There's something unsettling about it. The green is very nostalgic though, which harkens back to my Aurora days in my folks basement.

You can see the Gogos' influence and it really shines through. The green, man..it really works. Wish I had it as an option, not that I'm complaining mind you; you know how much I freakin' love your monsters.

Had the incredible pleasure of meeting Basil at Horrorfest, Hunt Valley 2 years back and picked up 3 of his prints which hang, signed in our family room. His Lon Chaney jr./Wolfman, his Creature of the Black Lagoon and his Dracula/Bela prints. I adore his work. His War covers are equally inspiring if you ever decide to nail Sgt. Rock, Sgt. Fury or Capt. Savage.

What's going on with Cabinet? Ready to sneak us a look at one of the 2 FS yet? I'm chewing at the bit here.

That last pic looks like a painting - very cool variation!
