Somethings just shouldnt be tinkered with. The original BR is sheer perfection - I dont want another movie floating around in my head unless it's going to be equally great, and I just dont have faith that it will be.

Ridley Scott is on born!!

Only found out that the 'Alien Prequel' is not going to be done in two parts and had evolved into it's own film. Promethus is what it's called!

Sticking on track, yes it's sort of strange why they should play around with a masterpiece!

Everything I've read about this project has been positive. Alcon Entertainment only wants to tell more stories in the Blade Runner universe not create a franchise that reinvents what Scott did with the original film. The fact that they've landed Ridley to helm the project tells me that wasn't just a bunch of hot air. Ridley has been interested in re-visiting this universe for some time now and I'd imagine he'll be granted the creative freedom necessary to take the concepts from the 1982 film into a new direction.

I really fail to see how this is a bad thing either. Its a far cry from the Hollywood re-do/remake craze of late. You have the original Director on board and a company backing him that won't tie his hands creatively. I personally can't think of a better film to build a franchise around. The possibilities are endless. Blade Runner is and always will be one of my very favorite films and I don't see this project doing anything to taint its legacy.

I see it as a good thing. Especially with Mr. Scott at the helm.

A prequel could show the rise of the Tyrell Corp and the significance of owning animals as a status.

A sequel could have gov't operatives coming to the location where Deckard and Rachel went in the end of the first movie in an attempt to get Rachel because she has information re: Tyrell corp and replicants that they could use to their advantage on a global scale.

Either way, so long as they don't touch the original and stick with the theme and mood, it could be a winner.

Depends on your taste I guess. Blade Runner's imagery, atmosphere, score and narrative are pitch perfect for me though. It's certainly not a fast paced film but I'd never describe it as boring.
