Yeah because those movies relied heavily on his involvement with the greater MCU and him being a hero still maturing. You can’t pull it off the next movie correctly without that framework backing it.

Had completely missed the news about the Spider-Man Disney / Sony deal being over. I wouldn't be too upset as anything can still happen. If not Sony can still make a successful and quality Spider-Man film, on their own. I think Disney actually has more to lose.

My hot take - Albert Molina is the best thing in Spider-man 2, the rest of Sony's five Spider-man attempts are medicore at best and completely awful at their worst.
Only thing they've ever done that was pretty amazing was Into the Spiderverse.
