...and that's a Courtyard property.
We are not talking Marriott Marquis or Renaissance here.

Those interested in getting a room closer to the convention for cheaper rates will have to wait for the General Hotel Sale.
"The hotel sale is the best way to ensure that you get a room at Comic-Con. A recent report by the San Diego Convention Center Corporation revealed that CCI holds 62,922 nights at area hotels during the convention – the vast majority of rooms in the area, which Comic-Con International is able to secure for locked-in rates for attendees. Those that aren’t included in the reserved convention block typically go for extremely high prices, and are far out of the area and not included on the Comic-Con shuttle stops."
The sale is rumored to start on Tuesday, April 5.

I tried to score tickets the last 3 years. No luck in the waiting room. I'll hit Wondercon and some others though.

I didn't get tickets this year, but for two years I was able to get really good rates buying someone's time share. I was unable to get anything I liked close by within walking distance (during the hotel sale) so I was going to just stay somewhere outside the city, but ended up staying at the Wyndham Harbour Lights for 4 nights at 100/night.
I'd try the official hotel sale first, but people could keep that as an option.
Also - it's really easy to drive in for the con. SD has a lot of parking lots/garages (at least compared to what I'm use to in Boston) and I never had a problem parking and walking for the few years I did that. I was coming early to get in when the doors open though, so if you wanted to come in later in the day it might not work.

a show you must go to at least once in your life for sure. It has gotten out of hand though and is no longer a comic convention. it is a multimedia experience.
did the show every year from 1986 to 2006, now i live east coast and do shows over here.
