Thanks, but I'd have to be in dire straits to part with this one. My first is still my favorite. 😀 I just love Chris' inked work!

Agreed. I love his tonal markers, but I'm glad I picked up a piece back when he was doing just inks too

That is completely understandable and the answer I expected.

My first commission by Martin Egeland back at Mid-Ohio in 1998. Why was I not looking at OA instead?!?!

I ask myself that same question. I started going to SDCC back in 1991. If only I was focused original art. The stuff I could have bought each year.

These are my first 2 pieces of art. I did not commission them but fell in love with them when I saw them at a convention in the artist's (Greg Titus) portfolio. Greg and Skottie Young were sitting next to each other at the show but Skottie's art was already long gone when I found them. I went to the con with a budget for statues and left with this art instead. Oddly enough, I went back to statues for a while after this purchase and didn't pick up any art until this section on SF sprung up and everybody started sharing convention sketches and commissions. At that point, the dramatic shift away from statues and toward art began.

I would really have to put some thought behind what my first original comic page art was. I think it was some art I bought while starting to chase con sketches. I remember buying some Freddie Williams Flash pages and some Ron Wagner Hulk annual pages at a show but it could have been different shows. Those are likely the first pages (and yes, I never scanned or put them on CAF)

Can't remember my first commission but these two were my first published page and first cover. I probably had amassed a bunch of sketches and commissions by the time I picked these up and, looking back and echoing the sentiments already expressed, probably should've saved the funds and bought more published art instead.

Aaron Lopresti - IH Issue 102 pg 12

Carlo Pagulayan - IH Issue 614. Still absolutely love this cover.

Looking at my CAF by year, it looks like my JSC piece was my first. Kinda crazy when I think about it, lol
