600,000 Wii vs 130,000 PS3
from cpu.com:
Sony has only sold about 130,000 PS3s so far, and availability of the pricey PS3 is low. Nintendo shipped tons of units and has sold them all, without anyone getting hurt in the process. So far, we’d have to say the Wii is beating the PS3’s brains out. Of course, when you have more units of your product available, and you sell that product for less than your competitor, that can happen.

Yeah, the Wii has really put Nintendo back on the map in this generation after losing the N64 and GC race to Sony. I think it will be great to have 3 thriving consoles.

At this point I think Nintendo is safe to profit as always. It's on a different level and hardly any competition unless you want something fun. The real fight will begin once Sony releases better games, cause now only one real heavy hitter can live I say. But Microsoft's Online capabilities puts it far above all the rest so far. Nintendo is getting it pretty good so far though with it's internet, news, and weather channels, plus the Virtual Console.

Nintendo just needs to get 3rd party support now... They have had the 3rd party support problem ever since the N64...

Haha it's true, some of the stuff looks even more dated then the Cube, but I think this will change in the future, the majority of the games focused hard on utilising the controllers and Wiimote, so as soon as they get that down, we'll definitely see an improvement in graphics. Granted nothing like the 360 or PS3 but alot better then what we're seeing right now. It's definitely a far more suped up Cube then alot of ppl think though. So we'll definitely see some graphical improvement later on.
I can't wait for Metroid Prime that's for sure.

Exactly right, but Nintendo is the best developer in the world, IMO. Sony 1st party games are generally horrendous outside of Gran Turismo. I've never understood the Sony appeal, since all of those games come out for another console eventually.
If the Wii gets Capcom, Konami, and Sega support on some nice exclusive games, then that's all I'll need.

True, but I don't care about graphics THAT much. Hell, I still play the NES quite frequently.
5 years from now, you'll look back at these 1st gen PS3 games and think the graphics suck. There will be no reason to play them, since you'll have moved onto some new graphical showcase. In 5 years, Wii Sports will still have bad graphics, but it will still be fun to play. Good gameplay is timeless. Good graphics are not.
As I said, I'll get a 360/PS3 for HD/5.1/16x9/online play.

Hell yeah man, I just saw the new vids for the Smash Bros. Brawl trailer. It's gonna be online play too!
I hope Metroid is as well.
I'm also looking forward to WarioWare.
But like El said, it's the gameplay that always has you coming back.
There's a ton of beautiful looking games out there that I'll play at least once.
But the great stuff no matter what it looks like always gets played over and over. We just need our bum friends to buy Wiimotes to join in on the fun!
