If you want the trousers to be skintight, the trick is not to "drape" a layer of clay over the legs as you would think would be the logical way (like putting on a pair of actual pants)
Instead, what you want to do is to work on the edges of where the trousers material ends against the leg, and build it up and blend it in just in that area, and create the illusion of tight fabric, when in actual fact you have only added that very slight amount of clay at the edge of the trouser-skin interface

Does that make sense?
Keep it going!

I just had another suggestion. Try reading Edouard Lanteri's book on Modelling and Sculpting. It has a section dedicated to modelling drapery. Sculpting tight clothes would be easy compared to drapery.

Here are some of my experiences:

In the next picture, the top two pieces are resin casts that I reused for the different varieties shown below. I then sculpted cloth on top. The unpainted pieces are resin with oil based clay on them. The same method that jollyskeleton had suggested. Hope this helps

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Looks like you are doing a good job to me. I always use some kind of reference when creating folds and pulls.

You are welcome. Here are the links to Lanteri's sculpting books. A little boring sometimes 'cause it's like a ton of information!
