HUGE news for the Australian convention scene!

Been sitting on this news, but now it's been made public I can share!!

Lance Fensterman and the Reed Pop group (hosts of New York Comic Con, C2E2, PAX and Star Wars Celebration) have entered into a partnership with OZ COMIC -CON!!!

More details here, but this means Oz Comic-Con is going to have unprecedented access to con guests in the immediate and ongoing future!!

Cannot wait!!!

Yeah, I've known about it for some time now (I think I told you about it) and I'll be interested to see how the "partnership" works or whether Reed will put their own people in place down the track after they learn about the local environment from the existing management (Carissa and Rand)?

Lance attended Supanova and spoke with Supanova's management year before last but Supanova has been going for 11 years now and is still growing well so we'll see how it all works out

Yeaaaaahhhh booooooy! Great stuff, do you think this will have an influence on comics-related guests as much as it will the celebrity guests?

Almost as good as the Universe Vs. Universe Convention announcement

Well I've been given the thumbs up to approach comic talent at both Chicago and FanExpo this year by management mate, so this is very very promising!!

It may certainly influence comics-related and celebrity guests but, bottom line, it will still be a matter of personal relationships and what each convention is willing to offer the guests

I'll certainly be interested both as a fan and part of the competition as to whether their comics related guest line-up increases from a couple of international guests and a host of talented locals.

Woah!!! This is ridiculously awesome news!!! Thanks for the update Rocket!
As I previously said in the other thread…last year, my fav con was in the following order:
1. OCC
2. Supanova
3. Armageddon
And so far with the announcements of OCC and Supanova…I gotta honestly say that Supanova at least had more of a "list" than OCC, even though it didn't mean much for me personally…but nonetheless, still had more of a list…but now with this exciting announcement….
OH MAN!!! I think OCC is gonna be a winner again! But we'll see what it's all gonna do and mean for us!

Actually, I'm wondering how much longer Armageddon is going to last? They did one show in Adelaide and never returned and I believe the Melbourne show is supported by their NZ shows.

I wondered the same thing, I'm still not convinced ANY State can sustain a three convention year I guess if the guests are already here and Melbourne is so close it makes sense? Time will tell....
