IMO, the JUSTICE (Alex Ross style) Grodd is better than the earlier Rogues' Gallery version, but they both have too much blubber on them.

Somehow, the collect-and-connect Grodd looked more formidable. You're right though... an evil smirk would be welcome.

i thought the Ross version suffered from the same "generic gorilla" problem as the BaF one, the JLU Grodd has a great expression, shame they couldn't have put that on the new one

I bought Artemis off of Ebay for $25 today. I don't feel like going to all the stores to save $13. Not worth the hassle for me.

The problem is, I'd keep expecting this version to start talking like Powers Boothe!

Couldn't BELIEVE that they let him voice Grodd!

No worries, mate...

I may have been biased by the fact that before watching that JL episode, I'd just read a Grant Morrison story where Grodd was roaring about eating some super-heroes... and Boothe's voice sounded too smooth and subdued for that kind of menace.

heh, thats how i like my Grodd, sure he's a big scary ape, but he's also a super genius with a slight level of sophistication
