As for GOTG, to be honest I grew up as a DC and Star Wars fan so I didn't pay much attention to Marvel outside of Spider-Man... So when this movie came up I knew nothing about the comics or the characters... So for me I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it, lots of humor and action...

When I was a kid, Star Wars was also Marvel.
Seriously though, growing up, I was the opposite reading lots of Marvel and only The New Teen Titans from DC because, you know, it reminded me of X-Men.
I even was a fan of the Marvel Presents: Guardians of the Galaxy series featuring the original Guardians, Vance Astro, Martinex, etc. Although the movie completely changes Yondu's personality and it's the later incarnation of the team, I was excited when it was announced and liked it for the most part.
