Earlier this year, Marvel released a number of variant covers (I think 1:20 ratio) featuring the "I Am Captain America" theme "depicting real world Americans of various vocations and ethnicities".
Colin Wilson contributed the variant cover to Moon Knight #3 and it featured a cowboy or Western scene with a nod to Cap. It's a fabulous looking cover which displays Colin's ability to draw Western scenes and I thought it would eventually end up in my hands to sell on Colin's behalf.
I was totally surprised when I opened up a package from Colin last night to find not only a commission he'd completed for a collector but the "I Am Captain America" variant cover he'd illustrated with a dedication "For Royd... with thanks for another very successful year!"
I sat there in amazement and then delight as I examined Colin's generous and thoughtful gift! Here's a pic of the finished coloured cover - the original doesn't include the Photoshopped background scenery. The original is also larger than standard size so was too difficult to scan.
