Hot Toys Common and Known Issues and Quality.

Hi guys!
I'm about to jump on board with the Hot Toys line starting with the Spider-man Homecoming releases.

I've heard some negative comments about this line, but none in particular. I just heard that the quality is poor,
but they look kinda fine to me.

What are your thoughts about it?

Probably better to check the Freaks forum. They talk more about figures. I only recall problems with the first Amazing Spider-Man figure and the weak joints. Or at least ClipperKing broke the joint on simple poses. The video is probably still on his channel.

There are the usual rubber concerns with some figures. None I've seen. Older Iron Man figures have a problem changing color on the waist part. But those were the plastic ones. The newer diecast Iron Man are the figures to get.

'how bout likeness issues? So far, the Hot Toys I've seen resemble the actors/actresses pretty close.

I wouldn't call likeness an issue. Their final products are pretty close to the prototypes and on rare occasion they even improve them prior to production. So if you don't like the the likeness when the preview or preorder comes, just pass. You can go on Hot Toys' website and look at their entire catalog and see how well they do. If you are concerned about buying a line of characters from a license and being disappointed by a bad sculpt, in general Hot Toys likeness is very good especially the male actors and even more so for people the sculptors have done more than once. The female sculpts while fairly accurate, tend to have a wide-eyed expressionless look. Not all characters should have neutral stoic look.

Older figures tend to be the worse. I sold my HT Ironman 2 Black Widow because it looked nothing like ScarJo compared to the newer releases of the character.

Yeah, I do think that their likeness sculpts are amazing.
Just wanted to get the opinion of an actual collector,
because marketing pics are like 'the best foot forward' kinda thing. Feed back from people who actually bought the figure I think is more reliable. Our taste, views and standard of quality may vary, but still, I think info from people who aren't selling it is a better source.

I have about 20-30 Hot Toys and their likeness is far better than 95% of the movie/TV statues. Their quality is superior. For the most part all my statues are comic related and Hot Toys are movie/TV related. My only exception is Tweeterhead whose statue likenesses are uncanny.
