This is something you should look on as the work of the legendary Rick Baker. Best known for American Werewolf, Harry and the Hendersons, Men in Black, Hellboy and my personal favorite Gremlins 2. This is artist freedom not trying to recreate a look you might have already seen.

Looks almost like something out of Lord of the Rings. I can appreciate the creative take but it's not for me.
