Jack & Sally, Halloween '06

Hey guys, I just recently joined the forum for the sake of sculpture. While browsing around I saw that you had this costuming sub-forum, and after checking it out I am really impressed! There is seriously some high caliber ability on display in here.

I'm no hard core costumer by any means, but here's my best halloween costume ever for your view. It was my then girlfriend's idea, and we just ran with it.

Welcome to the Statue Forum. What a cool couple. I gotta ask..How did you see through that mask? and how did you make it/Jack's Head? Was it complicated?
You even nailed the suit!

Thanks, bro. I made a replica of Jack's head out of a styrofoam ball, and molded the details of his signature scowl out of the oil-based clay I use for sculpting. Then I covered it in a product called Rigid-Wrap that I purchased at Michael's. It is like strips of fabric coated in plaster. Once it dried about halfway, I cut a seam up the back to be able to remove it from the sculpted head, and then I just reinforced the seam. To be able to see, I cut out the eyes and covered them with black nylons. It worked well. I had decent visibility and did not loose the desired effect of two empty eye-sockets. The suit was pure Goodwill, I taped two white paint pens to the end of a drumstick to draw on the pinstripes. My ex handmade her Sally dress, which I thought came out wonderfully.
