Xbox and PS VR
Hard to miss the emphasis on virtual reality coming to Playstation and Xbox at this year's e3. I'm not sure how I feel about it, what do you guys think? Gimmicky or legit?
I kind of feel like at least for now it feels gimmicky. I was previously so excited about motion controls and then the Kinect, and voice control, but even after trying those I find I still prefer to just sit there with a traditional controller when I play a game, I kind of think this will be the same.

It's legit. I own a Vive and it's the real deal. VR is here to stay this time. It's not replacing traditional games. It'll be an option along side it.

I haven't experienced VR yet, but this has been my suspicion. I've heard a lot of good things about the technology and it sounds nothing like the previous "hype" of motion controls.

Demoing VR will get a lot easier soon. PSVR at least will be. They'll have demo units in Gamestops and Best Buys in the coming months. They've already started getting them out there, but it's really limited right now. It's definitely not motion control or 3d fads. It's a whole new medium and when it's done right, it's damn near magical.

I heard VR is getting pretty damn amazing. I guess I just need to experience it before I'm a believer.

I'm giving it at least 2 years before I even consider forking out for anything VR. The hardware is all well and good but I want to see whether the games developers truly embrace it or whether it'll become another Kinect, sitting collecting dust in the back of people's cupboards...

This is where I am on it. The reality is is that hardware drops in price so significantly within a yr or two and at the moment there's not much in the way of must play software. The Batman VR is about the only thing that has me losing my mind at the prospect of VR but The reality is is that, as per Rocksteady's Sifton Hill, it is only an hour long game with perhaps an additional hour of exploration. Not worth forking out almost a grand at this point in time IMHO.
