Id need to see the movie first but I'm not seeing $499 especially with the value of the Euro right now.

Yeah I won't be picking this piece up even if I end up liking the film. It's too expensive for one thing and the property is too obscure to invest in. I am just surprised at the amount of detail the piece has.

399$ is reasonable, 499$ is steep. I bet it will become 450-500€ via european retailers, definitely don't see the price point.

I hate to say it, but I hated the movie, and can't imagine any merchandise from the movie being sold at MSRP. Who would want to remember something that bad?
Somethings were truly great, special effects, sound...the integration of the robots and other visual effects were that the typical awesomeness from Blomkamp et al. I was truly disappointed how terrible the movie was overall, felt betrayed because I luv District 9, and leaned toward the like it side for Elysium. I hated almost every character in Chappie. I'm using the word "hate" a lot, but that's the best four-letter work I can use in a public forum to describe my disdain for it.
But back on topic...what's Gentle Giant's history in blowing out merchandise with little demand? I would definitely pick up a broken statue or heavily discounted price for this to bash into a police robot or automated soldier. I think it'd be relatively easy to chop off the head and put together something else, maybe something that looks like a Spectre head from the game Titanfall...yeah!
