This might actually work for a lot of reasons.

hot blonde teenage girl with super powers.... should be a slam dunk
During season 7 of Smallville I thought for sure they would of done a spin-off of Supergirl... But given they ended Smallville with her being sent off to the future I'm not sure where they would go with this series...

Supergirl would be an awesome TV show. Laura Vandervoort was perfect for the role but like everything Smallville wasted on the show.

Not that I'd watch it, because I never watched Smallville, but might be cool if SG is a complement to Man of Steel.

I'd definitely watch it if this was the case, but I think they said tv DCU and film DCU won't be connected.

It's one of the issues I had with Agent of Shield being connected with the movies, a lot of the times I will wait for the Blu-Ray before seeing the movie, which meant that I had to wait watching the last 5 episodes of Agents of Shield until Captain America came out on Blu-Ray...
On the flip side it does make it seem everything is much larger when it is tied into the movies.... Only negative is the tv shows don't have the production money to match the movies so it can be a stark contrast from movie to show and back again..

I this show's success will be on the premise and the market. Arrow and Flash are both lower budget shows on the CW. If fear if Supergirl goes there, it will be a super powered Dawson's Creek if they are marketing this for tweens.
Then there's the separate Gotham on Fox which is targeted at a more adult audience as it will air next to Sleepy Hollow.
I'm curious as to what direction they will take the show. Just stay away from David E. Kelly.

Only if it's Supergirl the cavewoman. The DC canon "Man of Steel" prequel comic puts Kara Zor-El as pilot of the crashed ship in the Arctic.

And I'll pass on any non-Kara Supergirls.
