^DC's already got him slated as an old(er) ass Speedy.

Hard to picture anyone else in the role right now. I hope he stays for the next couple of films at least. Sounds like there's a fair chance, too. That time will come, though. No one's getting any younger.

This is just negotiating in the press. If Marvel wants him, he will be Cap for as long as he can physically do it.

Until after he's had a break and they want to a movie where the new meets the old etc. etc. People just forget what a great way to make bank these roles are.
Of course sad to see him go.

He really lucked out with the 1st movie being so good and setting a tone and template for him to follow with all the other movies.

Captain America ages slower than Chris Evans does, so they'd have to CGI him for an entire movie ala Samuel L Jackson, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Downey Jr, etc. if he does return in future movies (or maybe Marvel will time jump waaaaay into the future?).

Sad but understandable news. I wish him luck. This will be even a less bitter pill to swallow if & when Marvel Studios moves on from this entire phase & kicks off w/ a round 2 with all new heroes & comic-related tales. I'd like to see a Moon Knight or Defenders beginning; a Shang-Chi or original Guardians arc; The Sub Mariner, Supernaturals, or She-Hulk trilogy, etc.... Then .... & after a decade or so, they could roll back & combine threads w/ new & younger actors taking over today's, established roles. I still think a "Team-Up" series of films, possibly combining 1st gen heroes w/ newer ones, could really work too. This 1st wave has been wonderful but I don't think Evans will stand alone in departing.

Marvel has done a pretty good job (for the most part) casting the right actors for the roles.
