Suicide Squad 2 / Gotham City Sirens

Suicide Squad 2 to start filming in 2018. They're still searching for a Director.

The writer / Director of Suicide Squad, David Ayer, is moving on to spin-off film Gotham City Sirens, the movie that brings Harley Quinn together with a bunch of female DC universe villains.

My first thought is we don't need both of these films. Focus on one and make the best film. Suicide Squad was generally one of the biggest incoherent messes in comic book movie history.

My second is after the success of Wonder Woman, Gotham City Sirens would be better suited to a female director than someone who thought shots of Harley in hotpants and in her bra was a substitute for good storytelling.

James Gunn will write and possibly direct Suicide Squad 2.

Wow. With Gunn I struggle to see how the sequel won't be better.

The sequel has to be better, as the first film was lousy. The only aspect of Suicide Squad that was good, and held it together, was the amazing performance by Margot Robbie.

Amazing performance by Margot Robbie is a huge Gigantic stretch. I will concede people like her version of the character. I liked Will Smith as Deadshot myself. All that being said the first movie was terrible and thats from someone that routinely defends the DCEU. This movie can go nowhere but up. Hopefully Warner Brothers lets Gunn work his magic without their bone headed interference.

Dave Bautista (who played Drax in the two GOTG movies) wants to join the DCEU as well.

Gunn coming aboard has got to be viewed as a plus for both the the series and the DCEU, in general. Let him have a fresh slate of characters to choose from and he should be okay. The only holdovers I can see are Robbie and Viola Davis, maybe Joel Kinnaman returning as "Flag". The rest are "expendable"
