The movie loses several points from me because I just don’t care about Kang. He doesn’t scare me. I think his agenda is selfish with no purpose other than he is a power hungry manchild. And I don’t understand why he is worth fighting when he can be/is in all of space and time.

I also thought the editing was very jumpy.

A certain side character was so well done though. When you bring in that character, you just gotta go all in on it, which I think they did very well. I was laughing bc that’s what you always had to do with that character IMO.

A pair of Oscar-nominated animated films on Netflix:

The Sea Beast (2022) - When a young girl stows away on the ship of a legendary sea monster hunter, they launch an epic journey into uncharted waters--and make history to boot.

It's like How to Train Your Dragon transported to a high seas setting with sea monsters and the most inclusive cast of pirates ever seen on screen. 6/10

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022) - A father's wish magically brings a wooden boy to life in Italy, giving him a chance to care for the child.

Guillermo del Toro puts his typical dark spin on this classic fairytale e.g. Pinocchio sticks his feet into a fireplace to warm them and burns them off, haha! And there is the WWII setting in which a traveling circus forces Pinocchio to perform to Fascist audiences. Fun! 7/10

All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) - A young German soldier's terrifying experiences and distress on the western front during World War I.

I've read that it's very different from the book and got criticism for going too far in humanizing the young German soldiers who clearly had no idea what they were getting into when recruited. Nevertheless, it's a harrowing, engrossing account of the Great War. 9/10
