As much as any amount of charm or energy a leader may display, such as Bill Clinton, without integrity at the core the leadership quality dissipates and any charisma s/he may have becomes less effective. As long as others believe in the leader, and the leader's working for the benefit of others, the leadership quality remains.
I'm a little confused about the point you're trying to make. I guess my biggest question is; are you using corporate leadership (lead in what? commerce? trade? acquisitions?) as a comparison to the leadership needed to defend the planet from those who seek to oppress or destroy it?

I'm just talking about leadership in general and the core elements that define it. That's all and why Superman is a leader based on those core elements.

Fair points, especially in believing in the leader's capability in working for the benefit of others. This has to be seen of course and not just by words alone. Perhaps where Superman's strength comes into play.

On the opposing end, some in this position use intimidation and fear --almost condensing in tone if the expectations are not met. Different style of leadership which may or may not get the desired results. Lex Luthor anyone?

There were some rumours some months ago that "Man of Steel 2" would include Brainiac, Bizarro and Supergirl. This was discussed around the time George Miller was linked with the movie, but they might still use some ideas from back then. Brainiac as the villain is very likely and it would be awesome!
