They do a better job of packing than other companies do (the $4 goes towards the extra bubble wrap/padding that they use), but they are very reluctant to accept returns.

They didn't used to do it at all (other then the odd price hike on a hot item, and anime figures were/are more expensive then if you bough them from like amiami without shipping) but they also didn't carry a lot of statues so shipping was cheaper. Now with the bigger pieces the shipping price is baked in especially when it comes from out of country. You can see even the last P1 pieces that are available PO have a little bit added onto the price compared to SS. For SS prices they are probably just cutting into their margin, Secret Compass for example usually offers it it a little cheaper then SS for their products (like $50 or so) so you still are actually getting a shipping cost baked in it's just not increasing your direct from SS pricing. Or used to at least haven't checked in a while. But for those big pieces, especially the ones from overseas, the shipping was cutting into their margin too much most likely, or maybe even more then they were making in some cases. So they add on some money to cover it.

Everyone I know calls them toys, and I agree - Iím under no illusions..

Collectibles indicate they are very limited, highly sought after, and will generally hold or increase in value. None are true anymore.

They are no different than toy figures from target, only difference is they cost 10-20x more.

Was curious on how much more costs will be with 6.25%Tax. I brought up a mock order for Juggernaut Maquette Collectors edition it is $1350 and tax is $88.13. Well was nice while it wasn't there..

my goodness this thread has gone to mars and back, lol....

SS was foolish to NOT advise us of the change before the fact...especially when they had the promotions in December. I was going back and forth on a couple of things and would have likely pulled the trigger if I knew taxes were coming in January...I imagine they lost a lot of potential sales.

Yeah, I was waiting for $80 more in rewards points to mature before getting Juggernaut, but the added tax and increased shipping bumped the price up by $110. So back to no Juggernaut for me.

Feel bad for you guys saving rewards points only to have the newly added sales tax negate the savings. That's got to be a slap in the face.

Iíll just collect reward points for the next 6 to 8 years, then cash them in. That should make a dent.
