No rating, as we couldn't even make it halfway through. My wife, who is a pretty sharp cookie, was completely lost, so I had to keep pausing the movie to explain it to her. I finally asked myself "Why the hell am I having to do this? Isn't that the movie's job?", and turned it off.

Green Lantern
6/10
Easier to stomach in HD - but still nothing to write home about. Nice "post credits" surprise though

I'm a huge fan of the 1982 John Carpenter version, AND I enjoyed this movie...
Now I await the chants of " you're not a true fan if you like the prequel..."

I watched Carpenter's The Thing for the first time about a year ago. I didn't know anything about the movie going in. I posted a 10/10 review here I think. The movie is perfect and one of my favorite sci-fi horror movies. It's up there with Alien and Aliens. I watched the 2011 version a few days ago...
I want to watch it again to be sure but on first watch this is just another pointless prequel. It actually becomes a remake at times during the movie with similar shots and scenes. But the people behind the 2011 version don't get why Carpenter's The Thing is good. I wanted to like this new version simply for Mary Elizabeth Winstead's presence. But even her channeling Ripley and the movie referencing Aliens at times can't save it. The large majority of characters are forgettable. The same goes for the music. Eric Christian Olsen seems to be still playing his NCIS LA character. Things are modernized with new tech when they shouldn't be since this is a prequel. The CGI is ok but obvious for the most part. As I thought originally when I heard that this was going to be a prequel, it ruins the surprise of the 82 version. Plus, I think the producers were insane enough to actually want to make a sequel to the 82 Thing going by the 2011 ending. The sense of dread, tension, and doom is completely missing in The Thing 2011.
Right now I give The Thing (2011) - 1/10.
Simply for Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She should be in something far better. If the producers had any guts they would have made a new space horror movie for her to star in and not this needless prequel/remake.

Wrath of the Titans - 7/10
Personally, I would probably rate this movie an 8/10 simply for its entertainment value. Come on, I know the script and acting aren't anything to write home about, but this is definitely good popcorn entertainment. This movie reminds me why I enjoyed movies like Clash of the Titans when I was a kid.... because it was an adventure. Some of those old movies don't hold up well over time, but they still created a sense of mystery, wonder, and adventure. To me, this movie offered all of that.
While others despised the CotT remake for some reason, I managed to enjoy it. It has plenty of faults, but I still had a good time watching it. This new film is a definite improvement over its predecessor.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

For what it was?
It was just a lame cash grab attempt at making money off a familiair title that had no heart or soul what so ever

Maybe its more because I don't find Marilyn Monroe fascinating in any aspect.
