wow. good thing it wasnt a loaded shelf.

that thing mustve been in a real bind to break the glass.

Id think you might wanna check your measurements and make a small adjustment to the size of the replacement piece?

Thanks everybody, I do count myself lucky to have not picked up any cuts or lost collectibles. I was even barefoot at the time, so it definitely could have been worse.

I don't think adjusting the measurements would help any as I hadn't even made it into the actual cabinet with it yet, so there shouldn't have been any pressure on it or anything. Basically I probably should have just had someone helping me with it, instead of trying to do by myself like I always do.

I do have more in progress pics of the cabinet, but I don't have them uploaded yet because originally I wasn't going to post any pics of this until the whole thing was completed, once this happened however, you have to turn to the group of people who can appreciate this kind of thing, statueforum

great that nothing happened to cap and more so, to you. your cabinet looks great. mind sharing a full pic of it so that we can get an idea on how things would be laid out?

It's more of what can cause every collector's nightmare. When Tuv called me the first thing that ran through my head was, "What all did he put on the shelf first?" Then when I got the whole story the only thing you can think to say is, "At least the shelf wasn't full and you didn't get hurt." Doesn't help much I'm sure, but I think it's a natural reaction to point out how "lucky" someone is when something bad happens.

That's true. I had a Endo scull over my Endo arm in a glass cabinet, but I took it out cause if it breaks, the arm will be totally damaged. Scary stuff man!

I`ve had a glass shelf smash before. I was relocating the supports and luckily I had removed everything from the display unit. On refitting the shelf, one of the supports snapped and the shelf dropped to the bottom of the unit. Made a hell of a mess.

Cap's great but at this point I'd rather have Hiro so he could make his cheeks go all wobbly and go back to stop me from trying to put the shelf in

Man, that'd be just as if not more depressing, I've got one of those ordered.

With any luck I'll have a full bevy of pics up tomorrow night. My cabinet builder called last night to let me know he was back in town and was going to work on it tonight, and we pick up the sliding glass doors tomorrow, so with any luck I can start loading up for real this weekend. Although now of course it'll be minus two shelves

This thing that happened has me fearing that but on a much grander scale. After watching that shelf disintegrate over virtually nothing I keep getting this mental picture of that happening times twelve, but with all my statues inside.
