Your kidding me right?
HD is the only way to go! I am sorry to say that when you go to the best buy etc. sometimes they dont have it set up right at all!
Once you see it right you will never want to go back!
Ok, I do have one of the best Tv's out there, the Pioneer plasma Elite and a great viedo/audio amp but there is no way I would rent or buy a DVD anymore.
The quality of your equipment does matter when it comes to HD. The soap opera effect is because they are using the 120HZ but its not set up correctly. You need to set it up right.
The detail is so much better in movies, and Im not even talking about true HD sound.

When I went HD DVD/blu ray, I've never looked back. Some of my regular DVD's that I HAVE to see in hi def I'll buy in blu ray, but there's only a few. Other than that, any new movie I buy is in blu ray.

Same here. To me it enhances the whole movie watching experience. I love it. I don’t watch my standard dvds anymore. It makes me physically ill.

It sounds like some of you may be seeing the 120 hz processing. Especially after hearing the "soap opera" comment. Most stores...like Best Buy will have the "motion enhancer" turned on high and creating that odd effect.
Anyways, I'm sure many will agree...for me, once I went 1080p, there was no going back.

Haha I believe so. One of my DVD's came with an HD DVD version, the only draw back is it only works on my PC. lol
