The Winston Effect has a bunch of great pictures of the Rex. Many of them show the touch of olive drab in the paint. I'm not saying that should be the basecoat but the highlights are there.

To be honest Paul, all these Rex photos look a bit different from each other. Part of the problem is the lighting in the various photos highlights the paint differently and you can see the MANY variations of dark shades, greenish brown color etc etc. I think the Breakout Rex color is very nicely done and wouldn't mind if it was very close to that. Just my thoughts...

She's almost greener than the male bust...that's not good.
I'd say stick to accurate brownish colour palet which was your initial choice...

Thats's the color pallet I want as well, I think I will try to match the Perot Museum paint job as closely as possible.
