I'll just pick up a reg in the aftermarket for $400 shipped. Dont need the ex portrait, when Ill be keeping the masked portrait on the whole time. This piece isn't an ex or fail.

holding out for what? if you want the unmasked head what difference will it make in your final decision if the ES is 500 or 2500?

For one, its going to be far from 500 es with the way people order right away. Therein lies my point on why our final decisions is to holding out. Its the difference between paying $570 retail or getting it cheaper buying second hand.

At first glance I really liked this, but then when I paroused the pics I started not to like as much, I would really like a definitive wolverine statue but not sure this is it

Interesting to read the comments on this one. Basically positive but split between pre-order or wait for ES. My thoughts.

The prototype sculpt is nice, hopefully production matches.

Price is a noticeable jump from the Brown Wolverine ($479.99 vs $570). Almost 19%? Go Sideshow, it's your birthday!

The outfit design. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. THIS makes it NOT the Wolverine to own especially if you were reading in the 80s-90s. So where the snikt is this from? Some reference below.

The EX. Really? The exclusive is now the swap out head which the previous brown had as part of the regular edition. I think most other Wolverine statues from even Kotobukiya offered this option of swap out. I think the regular version will suffer in sales for this.

In summary, I think this is a good sculpt and pose for a popular character and if you're a completionist who must have every Wolverine statue, go go go. No ES means you have time to look at other new releases so time is on your side. But for me, in a few years this guy would be taking up space and would need to go when a more iconic costume version comes around. Maybe X-Force? Pass.
