New Star Trek Series based on Jean-Luc Picard
Looks like CBS will be creating a new Star Trek series and bringing back Patrick Stewart to reprise his role as Picard.
I'm actually looking forward to this...

I am both very excited and very worried about this. Jean-Luc is among my childhood fictional heroes.

Awesome. Finally!
I just hope they bring back some of the Next Generation producers, writers, etc like The Orville did. They’re much better than Discovery crew....
Fingers crossed for some cameos too!

Premiere Episode, the return of the Horga'hn!
That was actually one of my favorite episodes. I loved that one.
It sounds like a soft reboot of TNG. Because if they bring back Picard, inevitably you'll get cameos from Geordi, Data, Crusher, Riker, etc. I'm all for it. But I hope they actually broadcast it on TV, and not just charge you to view it online.

Please God make them do it right. No re-imagining and screwing things up again.

Data is dead from the last movie.... Although he did transfer most of himself to the lesser version model that Noonien Soong built before him and his brother Lore.
I do think we will see some guest appearances from the other actors.... Can't wait to hear more about it.. I am glad that Patrick Stewart is an exec. producer.....

Patrick Stewart is boldly going where he has been before.
As has been rumored for months, the actor has officially signed on to star in a new Star Trek series for CBS All Access in which he will reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard. The new series will not be a reboot of The Next Generation but instead is being described as an exploration of the next chapter of Picard's life. Additional details about the new series, including its title, episode count or a premiere date, are being kept under wraps. The creative team for the newest Star Trek series includes Alex Kurtzman, who serves as showrunner on CBS All Access' Discovery and whose recent overall deal with CBS Television Studios included marching orders to expand the beloved and global franchise.
Stewart will also exec produce the new series. Joining Stewart as exec producers on the new untitled Star Trek series are Kurtzman, Duff, Goldsman, Chabon, Kurtzman's Secret Hideout president Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and the CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment and Trevor Roth.

Bingo. If they chose to do so, bringing Data back would be simple as can be. a lesser version, sure. But it would still be the character Data. Brent Spiner's phone is ringing even as we speak.
And while it isn't a reboot, they are bound to throw the old characters in there every once in a while even if only for weekly cameo roles.
I think it is a great idea.
