Marvel Comics: The Untold Story

On sale this week.

From Amazon.com: ...Drawing on more than one hundred original interviews with Marvel insiders then and now, Marvel Comics is a story of fertile imaginations, lifelong friendships, action-packed fistfights, reformed criminals, unlikely alliances, and third-act betrayals—a narrative of one of the most extraordinary, beloved, and beleaguered pop cultural entities in America's history.

I must read this.

As likely as that is, I'm not sure I want to know how these guys screwed themselves, others, and so on... Also, the "might have been" of things might be too much to endure... Some of those older guys were so used and abused, it's heartbreaking to read.

Five years later, I finally got around to reading this book. Extremely illuminating and also a little disheartening--but still recommended if you don't mind the curtain being pulled back. It goes very well with the Atlantic article about Marvel's current problems.

Damn, that's one I've held off buying for... almost five years already? Time flies.

Despite my comment, above, I did buy and read this when it was published. Really enjoyed it and it has a permanent place on my comic book history shelf.
