OP has most of the good stuff covered. I would also recommend the Batman Knightfall story and Hush.
For the Green Lantern fans, the run by Geoff Johns was epic. Sinestro Corps, Blackest Night, Brightest Day, etc. Art by van Sciver and Ivan Reis.

I read so much more than the ones i listed including Knightfall and Hush. I just listed what i can give at least 8/10 among all the DC Comics which i read so far. For example, Cassandra Cain, Batgirl run is a favorite of mine, but the art in it was mostly bad as far as i remember so that can be a turn off for so many people, so i didn't recommend it.
I didn't include anything that i gave a point below 8/10 art wise or writing wise. Well, Neil Gaiman's Sandman's art was really bad at the begining as well, but the writing was a 11/10 so it is an exception. lol and art of Sandman was only bad at the begining, when DC realised how special the writing with the good word of mouth around the book, Sandman started to get the best talents of art in comics business.

I agree that the Geoff Johns Green Lantern run was spectacular. Really took a solid B-level mainstay player (meaning, not Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman) and made him a top seller.
Knightfall was far better than The Death of Superman storyline, though the later is considered more shocking and groundbreaking, even though it was more of a marketing campaign than it was a story (like Marvel?s Secret Wars). Almost a far more extended version of Daredevil: Born Again, where the hero is torn down and must completely rebuild himself to come back.
I?m in the minority oh Batman: Hush. When it was coming out every month I remember thinking this is a beautifully rendered run through Batman?s rogue gallery, with absolutely stunningly beautiful Jim Lee art but a story and script from Jeff Loeb where he basically was phoning it in. The Hush villain had no staying power and the story is primarily talked about in terms of Jim Lee?s art rather than the run of the mill (with some Hugh points, like the Superman/Poison Ivy issue) story itself.

I like Knightfall because of Nostalgia, but i tried to reread it and i had read a big porsion of it before i dropped it. It was bad, but i still like it because it gave us the St. Dumas Cult and characters like Bane and Jean Paul Valley, Azrael. He was cool as Batman as well. I really liked his Armors as Batman. He was a really agressive Batman, who bit by bit got alot more agressive as the story progressed.
Batman: Hush was just mediocre. Batman fell from a rooftop and got his skull cracked was just not good enough... I was like, Are you kidding me, Jeph Loeb ?!?!? lol I didn't like how the story was just an excuse to showcase Batman villains gallery. Jason Todd with Robinised ''R'' shield Hush costume was cool though. Jim Lee's art was pretty to look at.
Paul Dini did some really good stories with Hush later on btw. I really liked how he used Hush in his run. Batman: Heart of Hush is one of my all times favorite Batman stories and i can definetly recommend it. I totally forgot to add it in my recommendation list, i immidiatly correct that mistake and add it. I really like Paul Dini and Dustin Nguyen as a duo btw. If i am not mistaken, Dustin Nguyen drew Paul Dini's run where Hush was the main villain from start to finish. I like Dustin Nguyen's art. I even have a Batman Black and White Statue by Dustin Nguyen. (:

Paul Dini run on Batman/Detective Comics before and later during teaming up with Dustin Nguyen is stellar. I read them all and have them all in their HC packaging. Highly, highly recommended.
I’ve met Dustin Nguyen several times at SDCC and he’s a terrific guy. I’ve got two pieces of his art framed and hanging in my basement. That Batman B&W statue is great and I have that one, too, sculpted my Joe Menna who’s one of the best in the business, a long time sculptor for DC and also the Chief Engraving Officer for the US Mint.

Yeah, Paul Dini run in general was good. I have the trades and i also double dip and got the Batman by Paul Dini Omnibus.
Was it the Carpenter Girl or something... There was this obsecure D Lister Batman villain girl who the big Batman villains hired as a hanchman to built traps for Batman and stuff. She was so awesome, it totally felt like watching a Batman TAS episode while i was reading the parts about her.
