GOATS don't sacrifice wins so they can have a Kodak/Hallmark moment with their son.
What an absolute joke. Lakers have Luka now, I wouldn't be surprised if they kick LBJ to the curb and trade him to some bum team.

The only thing modern defenses could do against Shaq is flop. Most teams don't even have one player who could slow him down. Embiid is clearly much more skilled than Shaq (and has dominated), but he is slower and not nearly as powerful or agile. I don't think people realize how incredible an athlete Shaq was...before he kind of mailed it in. To think an all time force like that is not going to be able to play only 14 years after he retired is pretty absurd.
And Carmelo made himself irrelevant. He could have easily been a contributor off the bench or in a smaller role, but he wanted to remain the star. His three point shooting was a huge strength of his as he got older, but he was a negative because he didn't pass and never played defense after his first few years in the league. His own ego was the reason no one wanted him.

There's only so many fouls that you can use in a game. Then it's really barbecue chicken time for Diesel. And you are making my point with the Hack A Shaq. Today's roster would have to be constructed vastly different than you're seeing now. Because with the guys that are out there today. You might try the Hack A Shaq, but he's going right through them for the and one, plus free-throw. He wasn't a good free-throw shooter, but he definitely made enough to make you pay for deploying this type of tactic. Got the team in the bonus early and often, so that pretty much handicap your defense the rest of that quarter.
Yeah big fella would feast in this era of 240-245 lbs centers..NO CAP.

I love Shaq but if I could have one Center from the 90's, it would be Hakeem Olajuwon.

Whoa! I definitely can't disagree with this choice. The Dream would absolutely be putting in work in this era.

Do you watch basketball currently? You can beat on the bigs and barely draw a whistle. The small guys you cant breath on or be in their 'landing zone'. And thats important because all of those and-ones you think he would get would not even be shooting fouls. Yes you would have to deploy a deeper bench to use that strategy, but if a team was knocking down 3's Shaq would be a liability quickly. I'm not saying he couldnt play today but that he would be far less effective.
Centers that would be much better choices, Ewing, Olajuwon, Mutombo, Robinson. Heck go back a little further and Ralph Sampson, Kareem would feast today. Shaq is an oddity of the bullyball era. How would he stay out of foul trouble?
