Safely displaying statues

I apologize in advance if there's already a thread about this topic.

I got some Detolfs from IKEA and I'm looking to put some reasonably heavy statues in it (Pop Culture Shock Street Fighter Cammy) and I'm worried about the Detolf not being able to support it. I saw a video on youtube that suggested getting cable clamps to put under the welds, but it also suggested getting acrylic to put above/below the glass shelf to support more weight.

I bought some cable clamps, but any suggestions on getting custom-cut acrylic without breaking the bank?

I get custom cut acrylic all the time from a local plastic shop for my stands. Not expensive at all. All sizes available.

When you say "not expensive", what do you mean?

Like, this is a forum where people buy $500 statues without a second thought, so "expensive" might need a frame of reference, haha.

I would estimate a detolf sized piece of 1/4 to 3/8 acrylic would cost no more than $25.

how much does each statue weight and what is the weight limit for each shelf. I have my statues displayed on thick wooden shelving units so I never invested in detolfs. (Also I have seen some pics of collapsed shelves and broken statues and that kind of scared me away from them though I do admit that statues do look great displayed on them.)

I own 5x Detolf units complete with U clamps and extra think glass. The fact reamains, i've chosen to keep 1 unit for 1/6 scale light stuff, and dismantle the other 4, as i'm just not happy about using them for 1/4 scale, as i know the day will come when something to give, break.

I'm building a wooden unit to house 2x rows of 1/4 scale, and am using 5 pieces of glass (from the Detolf units) at the front. The glass will be used to support any weight, other than it's own

Detolfs suck. Worried about your statues, get something better than a cheap ass Detolf. Or, take your chances.

May seem out of topic, but does anyone know if stacking ikea bestas on top of each other is a good idea?

I only put 1/6 scale in my detolfs. Too nervous for anything heavier.

A conclusion is simply the place where you got tired of thinking.

Agreed. Don't go the cheap route when it comes to displaying and protecting your statues.
