What is Marvel Thinking with Venom??

Ok so Marvel is yet again changing one of the most well known and beloved Villian/hero/character. Venom was one of the best things to happen to Spiderman in a long time when he first appeared, now he is basically a joke..Why don't they just go back to him being a top Villian in Spideys life...I just don't get it.

I grew very tired of venom years ago, I wouldn't be upset if he just faded to black for good.

I quickly lost interest in Venom once he became the Lethal Protector. When he'd show up in Spiderman, it would be a hit or miss most of the time but I couldn't really get excited about him showing up.

After reading the latest GotG issue, a character revamp is fine for having Flash Thompson running around with the symbiote. As long as the creative team does something fun with the character where's the harm in it?

I would like to see a team-up with Spiderman just to see how Flash Thompson's old hero-worship plays into the symbiote's former attachment to Peter Parker. This may have already happened and I missed it.
