The critics are definitely being overly harsh with this movie. It may be a bit of a mess story wise, but it is still an enjoyable movie.

One of the reasons I shared the above particular Chappie review is cause Quint (Eric Vespe) mentions how the news of Alien 5 changed the nature of discussion about Chappie among critic circles. One doesn't even need to read the review part, just read the few opening paragraphs.

I think this looks good, even if it seems to be borrowing pretty heavily from Robocop. That said I'll likely be waiting for BD on this.

I was more interested in the first round of previews where it was presented to be a more light hearted "robot learns to be human" short circuit style movie, as soon as the Jackmen full on action Robocop stuff started showing my interest pretty much dried up.

Same here, although I always do, I don't do cinemas as people drive me mad with their noisy eating lol.

Oh man I hear ya. Can't stand listening to what I call "grazers" scarfing food like they're starving. I generally avoid the cinema on anything but off days during the week when it's generally slow. I'll even wait a few weeks after release to insure the crowds die down sometimes. The way I see it is you only get one first experience. Sucks when someone else ruins that for you.

Consider yourself lucky then. For the most part Americans are pigs and for some reason many of them have a problem sitting in a theater for 2hrs. without stuffing their faces. I get having a beverage but I will never understand the need to consume massive amounts of salty and sugary snacks.
