Does a statue have to mean anything to you ?

How much of your collection are statues you buy just because you like the look of it and have no connection or meaning to you ?

I dont really relate to a lot of characters so buy a statue just because i like it as a thing of beauty or art.

Needless to say i have quite an eclectic statue collection but I get a lot of enjoyment just picking them up and admiring them.

Just wondering if im in the minority or do most of you also buy like this occasionally.

I buy strictly Hulk related statues. Have loved the character since I was a kid so my collection reflects that. I don't get collectors who buy something that just looks cool but have no knowledge of it - there is nothing wrong with that, mind you - I just don't get that mindset.

There are few pieces in my collection that don't hold some personal value to me. The GG Sucker Punch statues fall into that category for me - but they are some of my favorite sculpts ever....so there you go...

Mine all have meaning. Some from days of old and one from recent history (Wolverine). I ordered Capt Marvel just because she looks great and may turn out to be an investment piece.

I cant wait for CBG to make an appearance here lol.

Connection, I can appreciate others but I only buy statues of characters I have some passion about on some level.

It has to have eye appeal first, sometimes I don't know anything about it (rare), but then I do research. There have been some items that looked great, but the story behind it/associated with it is a turn off, in those cases, I don't get the item.

Most of my statues or 1/6 scale have a personal connection (either part of comics or TV/movie shows I really liked or older cartoons I watched). But I have a few (Sideshow Lady Death and Vampirella) which I purchased strictly because I liked the statues.

I have to have a connection to the character in some way. I have bought pieces just because I liked them in the past and they never seem to last very long in my collection and I end up selling them.

I own only 5 stautes, with a 6th on the way and 4 more on pre-order. I tend to buy based on images seen on the web.

3 factors decided if I buy:

1. Size - I prefer 1/4 (although I have a smaller statue on pre-order)

2. Price. If the price is too high, then it's a no no.

3. If in my eyes the statue has a wow factor (for whatever reason) then this ultimately is the most important factor. I might buy 1 of a set with no intention of wanting to complete a set.

So far *all* my statues are for keeps
