The dangers of detolfs are greatly exaggerated. I have had 6 for years and never feared anything in them. There isn't a lot of room for larger statues in each section so I don't think there is a lot that you could even fit into one that should cause concern. In cases where problems have been reported, the unit was put together incorrectly and/or the screws tightened way too far.
I put in the rough dimensions of a detolf shelf (11.5" x 15" x 3/8", tempered glass) and even highballed the distance between the supports as being 2 feet apart, and even then it said the glass should support 50lbs.
This collector appears to have 8 pieces displayed on top of a large piece of wood that appears to being held up by a pair of Detolf units.
The wood appears to be bowing, although it might be lens distortion.
No, it's bowing. Nothing else is curved parallel to it (which would indicate lens distortion).
If one of those glass panels shatters, then i can't imagine any of the pieces on the wood shelf surviving.
The TV might take a hit also. As for the contents of the Detolf surviving - some might.
