I think the body/head size appearance must be from angle of the photo because I believe the barbarian is the same sculpt as was used in the full piece. I have attached a photo of mine. Re the melting feet that is pretty much how CS Moore did it and the main one ARH did was done too. I think the painting looks like his feet are just sunk in the battle muck. Have attached photos of mine and my CS Moore feet so you can see what I mean.

I think the camera is to close to the statue so you have a fisheye view, as for the melting feet it works on the CS Moore version because there is still a lot of mudground around the boots, it doesn’t work as well for the ARH version because there is less of the mudground around the boots, it’s like he is standing on mud peaks.

I have started already addressing the melting boot problem, I started to tear up my base so I can get the girls feet on the base and I am gonna sculpt the bottom of he boots and sink him in the muck.
