Any Ideas on how to avoid this?
I usually bake my pieces on either a glass plate or a ceramic dish of some kind. I think anything metal would heat up too much and burn the sculpt sitting on it.

Im not 100% sure on this one. If it was me I'd probably remove/resculpt the burned areas just so I wouldnt have to worry about them as I move forward with the sculpt. Especially if its in areas that will be on the outside with detail.
I think they could only potentially be left in if your sculpting more over top of the burned areas. But like I said, Im not sure

Yes, as long as the wood doesn't have varnish or paint on it. Though the edges may darken a little.

William had made mention of a tutorial on cutting/separating the pieces after bake... anyone know if this tutorial was done, and if so where I might find it?

I know warming it back up to 275 degrees again will make the material flexible and easier to cut with sharp knife.

Zombie is wondering how you store your sculpy? does it need to be kept cold?..moist?

Zombie will be buying stuff for his first sculpture soon, and he would like as much knowledge before hand

Zombie should store his clay in a plastic container..like a 1-gallon ice cream container. Zombie should keep his clay room temp also.

1/2 extruded bars of Premo White from the 2 OZ bar.
1/4 extruded bar of black Premo from 2 OZ bar.
This mix matches pretty closely the Polyform Grey Compound. This mix with premo gives the baked sculpt crack resistance and flexiblity.
I agree that all crack repairs have to wait until the final bake and cool-down and 24 hours cold before repairing hairline cracks by super gluing and shutting crack while it's warm. Big cracks get Aves after sanding and smoothing.

Wayne's formula is almost identical to mine.
