Insight on acquiring Nintendo licenses

I've always wondered about the licensing process. I'm actually very interested in acquiring license(s) for Nintendo characters but read on their site that due to high volume of inquiries they just say no. Basically because of spam, you won't gain audience even if you're legit. I also read that they were going to relax their stance on licensing and actively seek out licensees but I assume that just means they'll look for partnerships with other big companies.

What I want to know is how a small company doing amazing artistic work like F4F obtains a license. My theoretical business is very similar to F4F.

Anyone have any insight on this?

I don't have any insight, though I would love to know the process, but you might want to post this question in other sections too.

What are you trying to make? Also, I wouldn't call F4F a small company - at least not by the number of licenses they hold.

EDIT: Just seen your DA account - nice work!

Oh thank you, yea my stuff is pretty similar to f4f, but like out of the gate I'm just a nobody fanboy but I don't want to sell unlicensed products, I want to be legit. I'm working on a line of smash bros. themed statues, 1/8 scale. I wonder where would be a better place to pose this question. Just googling wasn't much help.

You'd never be able to get the SB license. F4F has stated in the past that it's impossible to get because of all the 3rd party licenses involved.
