well didn't they have fossils in the earth surrounding their ship? and thats where they got the idea from? i know the fossils played a role in it some how. but it was so long ago. i could be wrong.

No, you're correct. They found fossilized remains inside the mountain where the Ark crashed. They studied their history and Wheeljack used that to create them.

You know it's funny, this franchise has kind of grown on me. Don't get me wrong, I hate Bay as a filmmaker and still think these films are filled with too much toilet humor and stupid human drama for a Transformers feature but the robots themselves and the effects are amazing. If you can look past the shortcomings there is enough mindless spectacle on screen for me to appreciate and just have fun with.
Though after Pacific Rim I'd say the bar has officially been raised. Matching that will be a tall order.
