Kung Fu Panda maquette?

Has anyone seen this?

http://cgi.ebay.com.my/ws/eBayISAPI....E:B:SS:MY:1123

is it really worth that much?

I mean I can understand the exclusivity and all is way cool but Why couldn't they have just made a production run?

Hope GG and Dreamworks decide to make the whole run someday.

5K for a small maquette is too much, even though it is only 450 and super exclusive

It's a cool piece. I've seen couple of them ended around $500 couple of years back. I would have won if is $200(lost the bid at $350). It was a gift Dreamworks gave to their employees and friends, not for sale to general public. I know the guy who sculpted it, he got one too. Saw him last time at the Wonder-Con. Here's a shot of his booth.

Heh, interesting to see where so many of my views are coming from.

In any case, the last one that sold privately direct from a Dreamworks employee went for $3000, this was about a month ago.

While I realize the asking price is high, there is a Best Offer option. Also, you have to consider the rarity and availability, as well as the design and aesthetic. This won't be made again, it was a cast and crew exclusive, so what's the likelihood of another being made available. It's also insanely detailed, and amazingly sculpted/posed, not many maquettes are done like this.

With people paying $2000 for a static Iron Man or Predator "maquette", and Padme maquettes that were available at retail with a much higher production run selling for $600-800, I didn't see this as totally unreasonable. Don't want it to sell for virtually nothing simply because the "right" person didn't come across it at the right time.
