Box Clutter arrgh!!!

Hello fellow collectors

I am so tempted to throw away all my boxes, is this such a bad idea?

I mean I got my wardrobe stuffed with bowen
and dont get me started with the gigantic sideshow boxes...

I know some members here keep them in storage, but personally I don't really want to pay for that.

Do any of you throw them out?

I have over 200 Bowen items and let me tell you, I have often struggled with what to do with the boxes. I don't want to throw them out, I don't want to clutter my closets, and displaying them them seems kinda superfluous....Currently they are just everywhere....

They are just scattered throughout the house right now For example:

The inclusion of boxes often affects the retail value of the pieces, particularly in these times where recasts are common.
A piece with no box can cut off as much as 80% of a statue's value...And then there's the issue of protection when ur moving house...

You can be creative with box storage;I currently keep them in larger cardboard packing boxes in the loft. The rest are neatly arranged under the beds in the house .
There was a time also,I used them as risers for the statues within the statue display( I covered them with white cloth/cardboard...)

Look if I had the space sure, I would keep it all.
But as the collection grows, it simply becomes impractical or impossible to keep all that foam.

It's not the boxes, it's the foam.

So I keep the foam for special statues. And chuck the rest and fold the boxes flat now.

NO point in putting them in storage. You just spending a fortune and there is no advantage to protecting the value of the collection, you just spent a massive amount more then you would ever lose by throwing out foam.

PS

Enjoy the statues, display them, life is too short to obsess over protecting value on things that are not exactly going to be enough to be your retirement fund.

I still have all my boxes, stored away in the back shed.
Yes it is a bit tempting to get rid of it all and save the space, I guess it just comes down to if you ever plan to move or sell any of it.
The boxes don't just protect the value, they protect the statue as well

Seriously though...I store mine in other peoples houses...loft space they're not using becomes MY space
