I loved the first one. IMO, it raised the standard for alien invasion flicks. It began a trend that has evolved to maturity, and i beleive now on the edge of being overdone. Having said that, I think its still possible to make cool alien movies. I just find myself growing less enthusiastic about them in general. Having said that, i cant imagine what this movie will bring thats different, especially since no superheros will be involved. ID4 spearheaded the alien invasion movement of the last few decades with a great story and superb visual effects. I get the feeling this one will be nothing more than a money grab by studio execs...hopeful though

Hmmm, looks like a CGI fest, the first is one is the best popcorn flick ever made, partly due to it not being. I'll reserve judgement of course...

Not sure what to think of this. The previous movie was an underdog human story of sacrifice and determination to beat the far superior alien race.
What we got here is just a straight up future scifi movie, which doesn't feel like it's even in the same genre as the previous movie.

I was never very emotionally invested in the first one, for me it was kind of an updated version of the fifties "War of the Worlds" film (not the H.G. Wells book), similar with a failed nuclear attack attempt and an updated "virus" ending. It had a few moments. So maybe they bring something new to the plate this time, I'm not looking for too much deep meaning so expectations would be yeah.. popcorn movie.

Yeah, that's the vibe I got when watching the trailer also. Maybe that will come across differently in the full movie, I hope so anyway. But it doesn't feel like it's even part of the same franchise almost going on that trailer alone.
