Horner was piloting the small aircraft when it crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, officials said.

Sorry to hear of this tragedy. This is why you'll never catch me flying in any small propeller plane...too risky.
Mr. Horner had such an impressive resume of film scores, including my favorites for Avatar, Aliens, and of course Wrath of Khan.
RIP Mr. Horner.

Don't forget Glory!
Thanks for the iconic sounds of music, Mr. Horner.

He wrote music for the P-51 flight team the Horsemen, well worth a listen....

I think this was a very personal composition for him as a flyer.
Flying an aircraft can be rather magical and words usually do not work to describe.

The guy's body of work was epic. From Field of Dreams to Aliens to Glory to Braveheart... he could do it ALL. And every movie he composed for was so much better for it.
RIP James Horner.
Addendum: My favorite James Horner score has to be Field of Dreams. It's one of my favorite movies of all time and I CANNOT imagine it without Horner's music. Seriously, if you're the one person who hasn't watched Field of Dreams, then check it out ASAP. A touching story combined with Horner's music will reduce grown men to tears by the end.
